Turmeric Steak Sandwich

Last nights dinner was a steak sandwich with caramelized red onions,  au jus and french fries.  The good for arthritis ingredients  in this meal are the Turmeric in the spice rub and the Red Onion.

Before grilling the steak I made a spice rub using turmeric, black pepper and coarse sea salt.  The turmeric added some warmth of flavor, not spicy or hot but just ‘warmed up’ a bit.  I like caramelized onions on my steak sandwich and usually use red onions not only because I like the flavor but they have the richest concentration of flavonoids and phenolics, providing them with the greatest antioxidants of the onion family.
